Featherdale Wildlife Park

The Featherdale Wildlife Park is an interactive animal park where you are allowed to hold, feed and get close to the native Australian animals. It is located in western Sydney Doonside’s suburb. From the centre of Sydney, it takes around 40 minutes to reach there by car. A number of routes can be availed to reach the Park but the easiest route to follow is the M4 and Great Western Highway. You can avail a train to Blacktown RWS from Sydney and then board the bus plying on route 725. The bus will drop you in front of the Park gate.

The Wildlife Park comprises of about 2000 native animals like koalas, bandicoots, echidnas, goannas, reptiles, wallabies, wombats, kangaroos, emus and native birds such as cockatoos, lorikeets, owls, possums and parrots. The Park officials start feeding the animals from 9 a.m. and if you reach there early, you can help them in feeding the animals too. You can touch and take photographs with the koalas.

Within the premises of the Park, a café, souvenir shop and barbecue area is available. Car parking space is also available to the visitors for free. It also houses a food kiosk that includes items like drinks, chips and takeaway foods. This wildlife park is a great place for picnics and even provides barbecues and picnic tables. You can either bring cooked food from home or prepare the lunch here.

It is a great place for kids and animal lovers. The fact that the Park is meant for people of all ages is explicit by the smooth paths that can be easily navigated by prams and wheelchairs. Near the enclosures, shaded paths and sitting places are provided for the convenience of visitors.
