The Wildlife World is dedicated to Australian native wildlife and is
located on the eastern side of the Darling Harbour next to Sydney
Aquarium. The zoo is under the authority of Sydney Attractions group. It
has the Sydney zoo, Sydney towers, Aquarium and Manly Ocean world in its
kitty. It has won accolade for best family focused tourism at The
Australian's 2007 Travel and Tourism Awards.
The Wildlife World is divided into 10 zones namely Butterflies, Other
Invertebrates, Reptiles, Kakadu Gorge, Koala Rooftop, Nocturnal,
Semi-Arid Grasslands, Rainforest, Wallaby Cliffs, Koala Sanctuary; with
more than 6000 animals to flaunt. It displays a plethora of butterflies
and you are allowed to perch one too. You can get friendly with koala
bears on the Koala rooftop. Pat a snake in the reptile sections, peep
into the burrow of the world most deadliest spiders. The zoo has homed
endangered cassowary, bilbies, possums and wallabies. You can watch
kangaroos and meet Rex the show stealer of the place, which is the
biggest saltwater crocodile in the world, 5 meters and growing, residing
in the Kakadu Gorge exhibit here.
The place has proffered a variety of Australian faunas and the visitors
are allowed to walk through them. The place is a quick getaway for
tourists and locals as well.
